Help 64gb sd card on motion (will generic cards work?)

krackhead

Newbie
I was about to buy a generic 32gb microsd card when I saw that the motion will support 64gb. I saw a couple people on the internet using the sandisk which goes for about $60. However, I found a couple on ebay which were about half price generic sd cards 64gb for around $30.

Does anybody with a 64gb card know which is the cheapest one or which ones are supported. Do I have to go with the sandisk? Or could I go with one of the generic ones?

Personally when it comes to SD card's I only go with name brand and from stores I trust. The reason for this is that SD cards are one of the items that is highly counterfeited. It's possible you might get a decent generic you could also get a card that has major flaws or is not the size specified.

well diferent micro sd cards have different ratings for speed /performance cheaper cards will more often than not be rated lower hence slower. it doesnt matter what brand you use if you dont care about performance and or quality they will all work some just wont work well. unless the ebay dealer is selling damaged cards then obviously they probable wont work. but thats obvious. hoped this helped.

i wouldnt get any generic microsd from ebay ive learned my lesson already they are all flukes from china that dont work or will work with major setbacks where not everything you put in will show so be careful

get an expensive class 10 card. Newegg is a place to get it from. dont cheap out on this kind of things. Its going to take you forever to write data to a slow card. Its going to take your phone forever to scan a slow card.

I found it to be picky about cards and brand name didn't matter. I am using a generic ebay one and it is working fine write speed isn't bad at all.

I found this 64gb one for $40 shipped that I am thinking of getting with a 5 year warranty. That won't get my data back if the card is faulty however.

Sandisk goes for about $60. Not sure about the warranty but it won't screw up and lose your data.

So for about 2 thirds of the price I am about to go for the generic to store my audio and video. Its not all that important since all of the files I already have are stored on a hard disk anyway.

I heard that the 64gb card needed to be formatted in the phone in order to work. About to test this out, but will likely wait a week or 2.

That posting on ebay doesn't even show the card, just the adapter. And yes all 64 gb cards are sdxc which means that they're formatted as exfat, most phones require fat32 so before it gets recognized you'll have to reformat it. And my SanDisk came with a lifetime warranty.

I think if you need a 64g then you will probley be doing a lot of video work.
That is a lot of room you will have. I would suggest if it is for video get a class10.
if you are just going use it for apps and music and such it doesn't need to be that big or fast so save your money.

was gonna make a thread asking if a 64GB card would work with this phone.

does samsung have their 64gb card out yet?

Has anyone actually got a 64gb sd card working on the lg motion 4g? If so list the link on amazon of the exact same model.
Also indicate if you had to make any modifications to get it to work.

I bought a generic 32gb class 4 a while ago works good writes decent. I saw a Samsung 32 class ten on sale I bought and the biggest waste of money my class four is faster.i thought Samsung being well known would make decent cards. I saw Kingston 32s class ten for like twenty five bucks I'll be getting that next time
