7.7 now in Thailand

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is available in Thailand now. I got mine yesterday from Power Buy in Jungceylon, Patong, Phuket for 18,900 Baht. They got it yesterday, a plenty available.

I can confirm that it works nicely with my media server running Serviio under Kubuntu. WLAN reception is good in the bedroom :)

Now the learning starts...

Oh, my Internet SIM from AIS is not working properly, but it does in the N82. Guess I will find out later. Cheers!

Hey Fritz,

Congratulations on your new gadget. I have two questions for you, if you don't mind.

1. Does your 7.7 have an Infrared Port? If not, can you please confirm where is the set made in i.e. which country does it say on the box?

2. In case of your purchase price, is THB 18900 the MRP of the 7.7 or did you get a negotiated price deal? Because I went to buy this at an authorized samsung showroom in Bkk and the guy quoted 20900 to me... but just to check out at another dealer for the price I found out that this was being sold for 18900 at the thailand mobile expo as well.

When I called back that guy, he simply said that he is ready to give it to me in 18900 as there was a one week promotion on at Thailand mobile expo... I wonder why he didn't tell me that an hour earlier / was he trying to dupe me?

Thanks for your help in advance.

No infrared. No country is mentioned, but in Thai printing on the box a address is given in Chonburi, Thailand.

The price was an error of Robinson. A friend went to buy it 2 days later and he had to pay the original price from the brochure: 19,900 Baht.

I did some testing now, and it seems the compass is completely broken. Both mine and my friend's 7.7 show an error of 90 degrees in any compass app. A Galaxy SII or Nokia N8 show the correct direction :-(

Regarding the SIM-Card: It was not a problem of the 7.7, but the SIM-Card was expired. I bought a new one and now it works fine.
