Help 7" Fire HD - can I put OS 3 (Mojito) on?

I think I have a first gen Fire HD, my wife bought it for me for Christmas before last.

I also have a download of the 3.0 software update the HDX has got, but apparently isn't coming to the first-gen HD, even though it doesn't look like the hardware can't cope with it.

Will installing it brick the device, or should it be ok?

It will brick your device. Its like putting the galaxy s4 software on a galaxy s1.
