720p @ 30fps?? which one does it better ??

Hi, I'm gonna by a new android phone, I'm really confused in between htc desire and Samsung galaxy s i9000, I've already read almost every review, comparison etc.watched a lots of videos on youtube but didn't find out thats which one is good in recording 720p @ 30fps.

some says Htc captures detailed more crispier video but it lags. and samsung galaxy is smooth, result is good but audio is bad? over captured etc.. so i want to know specially from those who have used both and compared the video recording capability of both.
thank you.

yeah one more this what about nexus one or htc hd? or any other

The Galaxy is advertised at capturing 720p @ 25fps, and it seems to do so. I'm not even sure the HTC Desire can capture 720p. It's modified US cousins, the Evo and Incredible, can, but they are variable frame rate from 13-24fps. They aren't worth using in this regard.

If it's between the Desire and the Galaxy S, go with the latter. However, I'd also look into the replacements for the Desire this year, the Desire S and the Incredible S. I'd be shocked if they couldn't approach 30fps for 720p.

now I'm more interested in galaxy s , as I'm waiting for the release of galaxy s2. so there should be a price drop :)
personally i didn't find any phone better then the sgs; at the same price range.

as far as the desire S, it has the same processor as the original desire. a minor updated version maybe. so i don't think that it would a better choice. and Samsung already announced the gingerbread ROM for the sgs . so its good news also.

What is more important is the audio codec. AMR really sucks..
Also, the EVO and Incredible drop frames in low-light. When I had a Galaxy S phone, it was light years ahead of the HTC phones.

There's more to it than that. Yes, the CPU core is the same. So, at the same speed, their CPU performance is equal. However, there's other changes in the SOC (system on a chip).

  • chip is fabricated on the 45nm process as opposed to the older 65nm process, meaning less heat and less power consumption (longer battery life)
  • chip has a newer GPU which is 60-70% faster in real world performance
  • The newer phones come with 50% more RAM (768MB over 512-ish). On CPU-oriented tasks alone, this showed a 15-20% performance boost, showing that Android is still somewhat RAM starved.
Camera wise, the performance might be similar. But to say they have the same CPU is quite incorrect if you're referring to the SOC.
