Good free calculator/unit converter (Ad Free)}

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
Can anyone recommend one that has a simple calculator and currency, temperature, weight etc converter?
Its not something ill use enough to pay for but theres a problem in my rom with ad supported apps and the app ive used for ages, having ads, is now unusable :(
Cheers
(I know google now does conversions but id like it in a stand alone app)

Thanks peeps. Ill download both and try them the next time i have to work out what the crazy americans are talkin about with their quaint old imperial "quarts" and "Fahrenheit" lol :-D

Granted I use the premium because it contains a couple extra features like fractions and what not, but the free version of RealCalc is pretty awesome in it's own right.

However currency conversion is trickier because it's dynamic and always changing.

You're obviously too young to have been brought on on imperial units, or to remember counting out pounds, shillings and pence. It's dead easy. 1609m to the mile, 1m just over a yard (or 3' 3"), 2.2lbs to the kg, etc etc :D

I use ... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.udell.convertor ... so no ads though.

I'm just a confused mess with units. I think of some things in imperial and others in metric and wish we (UK) had just changed over completely when I was a child...

Btw. take care with liquid measures. 1 US pint = 0.83 Imperial pints.

Lol this thread has got interesting :) ill give that podcast a listen in bed.
I was born in '75 so im the same as Jonbanjo where i think of some things in metric and some things imperial. I judge long distance by miles but shorter as M, CM, MM etc. Liquid i think of in pints (UK) if its lager (beer) but litres if its vodka lol :D i think of human weight in stones but i cant get my head around pounds like the americans use for some reason. Im 11stone so how many pounds am i? (Havent downloaded the apps yet lol)

The way my 9 year old would work it out would be (14x10) + (1x14) = ?? *

* I'll leave the rest to your calculator .... :D

Something wrong with your formula lol... there isnt an "X" to enter my weight in stones. Ask your kid :D

surely its Xx(amount of pounds in a stone)

EDIT doh im so stupid lol. So theres 14lb in a stone?

I was trying to make it easy to work it out via some mental arithmetic ... :D 10x14 = 140 + 1x14 = 154 ... There is a reasonable argument that mathematics ability in UK kids started to drop off about the time we went over to metric measures and decimalisation. Trouble is now, where the argument was that it was much easier to divide/multiply by 10 (rather than 16ozs to the pound, 14lbs in a stone, etc etc) now we have a generation of kids that can't even do that!
