8 bit Google Maps for NES

We're constantly making improvements to Google Maps in order to take advantage of better hardware and web standards. For example, last October we launched MapsGL to capitalize on the improved graphics capabilities offered by WebGL.

In our pursuit of new digital frontiers, we realized that we may have left behind a large number of users who couldn't access Google Maps on their classic hardware. Surprisingly, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was unsupported, despite its tremendous popularity with over 60 million units sold worldwide.

Our engineering team in Japan understood the importance of maps on retro game systems. With the power of Google
 
100,000 servers dedicated to run in real time to overcome the NES 8-bit limitations, map downloads over a modem... AND blow on the cartridge to fix bugs.

This is destined to be one of the great technological advances of our time. If they can do this for the NES, wait and see what they can do for our phones!

Ummmnm... anybody happen to know what day this is in Japan? (hint, add 15 hours to the time of this post)

That was a good one! It's not just NES, it's a Dragon Warrior-GPS! It would be fun to have a skin like for the Google Maps, certainly not a daily driver (pun partially intended), but fun to play around with.
Now I am going to go play Dragon Warrior.
 
I can see how Google Tap is marginally a veiled attack at Apple's minimalist design when function is sacrificed for form.
