*82 unblocking calls with Gingerbread

FYI I think I have a fix for the call unblock problem with gingerbread android.
I have a phone that always has caller Id block on it. If I want to allow my caller id to show on a friends phone I put *82 before the number. Gingerbread removes the*82 from the phone number in the address book if there is a listing without the *82 before it. It treats the 2 numbers as a duplicate but I need two listings for each address. One with the *82 to call the person to remove my block and one without the *82 so I can text that person.
The work around that I think works is have the *82, pause, then the number under mobile then have the plain number listed as custom cell text.

Does anybody know how to unblock a contact or a number on the htc phone? My wife's phone just started blocking my calls and so far everything (including factory reset) has failed to bring back my phone to reach her phone. It looks like her phone has permanently blocked me.....any help? TiA,

Get her to open your phone book entry and one of the options on the bottom is "Block Caller".

Is that enabled or disabled?

You are THE MAN (or Woman)! I have been looking for a fix for this for a long time... And you finally fixed it for me. By the way, for those who are wondering, it seems COMMA is the pause, at least on my phone. So I save the number as *82,222-555-1212
