8gb C6 SD card not recognized...

Hello. Recently just got a 8gb class 6 micro sd card for my HTC Desire (CDMA). When I put the card it it's not being picked up by the phone. Not giving me any kind of error message in the notification bar, just acts like no SD card is installed. My previous card was an 8gb class 2 card that came with the phone, so I know it can do high capacity. Threw the card in a card reader and re-formatted it FAT32, still nothing. Tried putting the card in a friends Samsung Galaxy and it picked up fine. Also my old card still works when I put it back in the phone, so I'm truly stumped here. The phone is rooted but Im not running any custom roms..

Is the card locked? Try cycling the lock switch(if there is one). Try formating it again and naming it, or try formatting it then adding a random folder to it with some kind of content, like an mp3.

Apologies, it's a micro sd card so I don't think it can lock unless I use an adapter? Correct me if I'm wrong please. I will try to re-format it and throw a file on and see if that works. Will report back.

Still no joy. Formatted the card FAT32 (even did the long format), named the volume, and tried throwing a movie file on there. Phone still loads up and thinks there is no micro sd card in there. Go to SD and storage and it says total space unavailable and the option to mount and format the SD card are greyed out. Ugh, frustrating. Even tried formatting the card Fat32ext and still nothing. I shouldn't have to create any folders on the card after formatting right?

I had the same problem with a new 16gb microsd card and my android phone. What I did was using a Linux machine, use Disk Utility and you'll see the sdcard drive mounted, choose partition and format. Unmount the sdcard and you're android phone should see the entire card. If you use windows, do the same - partition and format. Weird but it worked.

Sorry, I wish I remembered where I first read this to link to the original author's post, but after thinking I had dead microsd cards, this worked.

Are you sure the card is inserted in your device properly?
