Hello All! I'm new to both android software and this forum! so let me give you a brief introduction and ask you a few questions.
I'm a 24 year old male living in the midlands in the UK. I've had 2 android phones to date (both Samsung) and have really enjoyed using them, I find the usability, layout and performance to be good, even on the low end devices I've owned (Galaxy Ace 2 which now has a broken screen and Galaxy Y)
I'm currently using the Galaxy Y and find it to be a very good little budget phone, however its slow.... VERY slow!
I did a little bit of digging around the tinterweb and found a few places suggesting I put Jellybean on the device (I had already rooted the phone to make it all sim compatible) and have done this, I must say I love the new software, I find it looks great, has improved the speed of the device (albeit marginally) and it's quite easy to use.
However there are a few things bugging me...
1) the speed still, Is there anyway I can further enhance the way the device runs, It seems to lag a fair bit still when loading certain APP's.
2) My email's, Facebook messages etc aren't setting of a notification, Whereas before the phone would play a text message tone and come up in the bar across the top of the screen, now I have to keep entering the APP's in order to find out if I have a new message...
3) There are a few apps on the device that came with the new software I doubt I'll ever use, Holo (I'm not really sure what it is TBH, seems like an alternate interface??) Beats, dolby to name a few.. is there any way of removing these?
Any advice or general pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated
