Help A Captivate to Bravo issue, AT&T

Ok. I got a Captivate in mid-October. It worked great... for two weeks. It started to overheat. Then it frequently locked up. THe battery times dropped. Processor speeds dropped. I wasn't doing much different, and what was different should not have affected it. But it did. After calling AT&T they sent me a refurbished phone. It was a thousand times worse. No froyo, which is why i knew it was a refurb (new ones come with froyo). It was super slow (i once waited twenty minutes for a small app to come up. I had to pull the battery. then it kept happening).
When I took this one to the radioshack i bought it from, they said that they'd call at&t. A few days later, they said that they had to send it to Samsung. Samsung doesn't make them anymore, and I highly doubt that they can do anything with it.
Here is my question. If Samsung fails me here, is there any way that I can switch from the Captivate to the Motorola Bravo? I already used my upgrade on the Captivate. If there is, please tell me how, because I like what I've seen of the Bravo. I... I uh.... made the mistake of not checking the Captivate out first. Huge mistake. But if there is a way to switch phones without an upgrade or anything, please help! I'm back to using my Solstice now that the Captivate is gone. Help!!!

Seeing that you are past your 30 day grace period from AT&T, I honestly don't think you can just swap them out. However, if you are on a family plan and are the account holder you can always add another line to get the Bravo at the upgrade discounted rate. I've done that before.

I think if you return the same model three times and continue to have problems they will offer you another kind... but you might want to ask the same question on the ATT forum, there are people more familiar with their policies

and yes, the bravo is amazing... best of luck in getting one!

I did that. Cheaper than the fee to upgrade again, before the contract was over.

I had to do a warranty exchange twice on my tilt 2, they offered to exchange it for a different phone after my second one but I had really high hopes for the phone. After the third one they offered me a backflip instead, to my surprise they sent a brand new one. I would insist they exchange it for a different phone with similar specs. If not call the cancellations dept. and tell them you're switching to a carrier who has phones that work! On my 2nd Captivate now on another line and its about to go back too.
