a few issues....

1. In the Market, tap apps then scroll down, tap Verizon.

2. Same thing here. My Eris did it too. Never found a fix

3. Don't use that app.

For #1 ... yes ... but when I scroll down in the Verizon section there are no Apps marked as Update.

My GUESS is that it happens when they add yet-another-app-you-don't-want to the Verizon section of the Market.

... Thom

That is odd. Haven't seen that yet. I would try and play with the market myself, but my replacement Bionic is currently awaiting a repacement sim card.

For #2 are you getting double text in Handcent? Or are you getting text from the stock Messaging and Handcent app? I was getting doubles when I never disabled notifications in the stock messaging app. I disabled notifications and am now getting single texts.

For #1 i've seen it a few times. I do sometimes get an app that says update but when I click on it there is no update. I wait a few mins and look at the app again and I finally get an option to update. I am using a custom gmail transparent apk.

I am getting the double texts in Handcent. I do have the stock app disabled. I never had this issue with my X?

i would point at handcent. only way to isolate that is to use the stock messaging app and see id the same problem occurs. if not then its most likely handcent.

I've seen #1 a few times, but not recently. I usually wait until I am on wifi to update, and that may be making the difference, or it might just be that I don't go looking for updates immediately after receiving a notification, I edit for a few minutes / hours

I have seen #1 sometimes, although very rarely.

I have only had #2 once with a single contact, and apparently it was something off in how the network was delivering texts and not reporting it to his phone or something...

But yeah, beyond that I have not had #3.

I just noticed I am getting the duplicate messages now. I checked the stock messaging app and it's not software related since it happening in both software.

Another weird thing just happened. I got an update for 2 things. I updated one which finished but the other didn't start. So i checked and there was no update for the 2nd program. I open up the program and there an update button. Clicked on update and now it's just hanging -.-...going to force update thru market.android.com.
