A few questions about GO Launcher EX

Longi

Lurker
I recently installed Go Launcher EX on my HTC WildFire S (rooted) And I must say that I love it. But I have a few questions about it:
1. Is it safe to link Go Launcher to the SD Card with Link2SD? Or should I keep it on the phone to avoid any potantial problems?
2. Can I set different wallpapers for the lock screen and the home screen with it? if so, how? If not, is there any apps the has the ability to have a different lock screen wallpaper without replacing the original locker?
3. Is there any way to add the original HTC widgets (they are not listed in this launcher for some reason.)
4. Does it consume a lot of RAM/battery?

Thanks in advance!

1-it should be but I'm not sure.
2-yes you can depending on the lock screen you downloaded if it supports custom wallpapers just go to themes go locker choose the theme and you should be able to choose a wallpaper as well.
3-hmmm weird the widgets should be there try force closing go launcher or clearing settings of go launcher.
4-think of it this way your original home screen is just a launcher but its developed by android. That means it should probably take some ram but don't expect something big I bet 3 mb or less.
For battery launchers usually save battery or at least my next launcher does.

1. It may be transferred I think, but considering its a launcher it should stay on the phone memory for it to work better and faster.

2. You can set different wallpapers for it, the lockscreen is an entirely different matter. It depends on whether the lockscreen you choose can be changed. It has different and separate settings from the launcher. For example, in my Samsung, there is a different menu for setting locksreen wallpaper from homescreen wallpaper.

3. No you can't. The HTC Widgets are part of the original HTC launcher. Much like how Go Launcher allows you to use Go Widgets which cannot be used with other launchers.

4. Go Launcher eats a lot of RAM on my phone, usually its allocated about 25MB and then another 5MB for the Go Notifications plugin. Go Locker eats another 7MB if you would use that.

Agreed. Go Launcher use to be a really good launcher, but now it's so bloated full of stuff that it runs your phone right into the ground. Their reminders to update are annoying and practically take over your phone. On top of that, it's extremely difficult to find any type of skins that aren't using push advertising, or adding some kind of advertisement icons to your homescreen.

I would never ever recommend anything by the Go team anymore. That's saying a lot since I used to be one of their biggest fans.

What would you recommend instead?

I've noticed that the recent update of Go Locker, has added an extra annoying lock screen on top of the themed lock screen and it just doesn't work.

Ah yes the Go Team, also known as Beijing Innovative Link Technology Co., Ltd.

...and to be frank, I wouldn't really recommend them either.

Go was great when LauncherPro stopped updating and you wanted more options than ADW. Now, like others have said, with more streamed and lightened launchers like Nova and Apex, I can't recommend Go anymore.
