Help A few questions, please help :)

I recently purchased a MyTouch 4G, and had a few questions I haven't been able to find answers to.

1. I know I can root the phone and delete the Faves app. What I want to know is if I can replace the faves icon (on the bottom of the screen next to the menu arrow) with something else?

2. How can I make a shortcut to voicemail on the home screen?

3. When I go to type a SMS text to a contact, and start entering the first letters of the recipient contact's name, my facebook contacts come up as suggestions. I don't want my facebook contact info to pop up anywhere. How do I get rid of it? I do have it set to sync contacts, but only because I want linked connections. Do I need to sacrifice that?

1. I'm not sure if that phone allows that. However, you can install an alternate launcher that does have that capability. Try LauncherPro, ADW EX, Go Launcher, Zeam or one of the many other launchers in the market.

2. Open your apps drawer, find the voicemail app, press and hold the icon until the drawer closes, then drag the icon to your home screen. This works for any icon in the apps drawer.

3. It sounds like you've added your Facebook account to your phone. If that is the case, open Settings > Accounts and Sync, and remove the Facebook account. If you don't want to remove it, tap it and uncheck the relevant item to avoid syncing.

thanks for the help. however when i go to add the voicemail as a shortcut/widget, it is not listed as an app. is there a backdoor way to get it on there?

Are you simply wanting an icon on your home screen that acts as a shortcut to voice mail? If that's the case, the follow this:

Open your apps drawer, find the voicemail app, press and hold the icon until the drawer closes, then drag the icon to your home screen. That should add a shortcut to the home screen.

Yeah I know how to do that but there is no Voicemail app listed.
Hmm.. There is a Visual Voicemail app in my apps drawer.. maybe it's a T-Mobile specific app. Well, you must have an app installed before you can add a shortcut to it on the home screen. If you don't have that app installed, I'm afraid I won't be able to help.

I couldn't figure it out either. i ended up creating a contact named "Voicemail" and entered the voicemail number in that contact and then created a shortcut to that contact
