A Few Questions re: Amazon Fire Stick w/Kodi

I couldn't find the info I'm seeking w/google so figured I'd ask you all, I've read and heard frm others where one can root (some call it jailbreak, wrongly I guess) an Amazon Firestick TV and be able to access PPV TV, live TV from all over, movies that are still in theaters, etc. All this w/only the Firestick and a 'net connection, no cable TV required. My question is how does all that work? As in the case of the movies that are still in theaters, where is the actual content stored or maybe I should ask what type of 'net content is it? I was thinking perhaps bit torrent? And w/out a cable connection, how can it connect to PPV and live TV? A friend said she can access the local cable co.’s local news channel w/her Firestick.

Thanks for any info!

Hey @WheresEric, I've moved your thread over here to the Amazon Kindle Fire TV Stick device area for you.

Unfortunately, there doesn't look to be much info about rooting your device.

I'd also be very careful about downloading and using apps and utils to help accomplish what you're asking about, as there's a good chance of installing malware since the content you're looking for is typically paid and copyright- and/or DMCA-protected--legit/legal means for doing what you're asking should be very easy to find from obvious and reputable sources.
