Hi I have just rooted my wifes phone and i'm trying to install some roms but i am having a bit of trouble.

To root i followed the instructions on this site and added clockwork recovery.

  1. trying to download FirstUA-Rom but every link i click on fails and i cant find a site to download from
  2. Downloaded CyceronPL-v1.0 and flashed this rom. When i turned the phone on it keeps doing a loop on the cyanogen mod screen, seems to load and then freeze then loads again, cant get past this bit.
  3. Are there any sence roms for this phone?
I have rooted my desire and often flash roms with no trouble so i'm not new to this but seem to be having a lot of problems. If one of you clever people can help me i woudl be very grateful.
 
It seems that you weren't able to flash the rom properly.
Try flashing again, follow the instructions carefully.

Or you can try flashing some other rom, checkout xda for latest roms.
If all else fails, just flash stock via Odin.
 
thanks for your reply. I did go to xda and found a few roms. Manged to flash a couple but they all had something not working ie 3g for wifi. I tried to find the stock rom to flash but couldnt find it. i need to read up about Odin as i have no idea what this is.

Hey I see we both live in Hampshire! You'll need to read up on Odin as to return to stock youll need it as cyanagen and other roms use ext4 filesystem which the stock does not (rfs) so to go back you'll need Odin to flash the firmware as it reverts the filesystem for you. If not you'll get bootloops!

If you need a helping hand for ROMs on the ace I have tried most of the custom ones so know where they are strong/week. PM me if you need help!

HI

Dont know if you can help here but i flashed the Ace with what i was told (by an internet search) the official rom and now at least once a day the phone will freeze or crash needing a battery pull. Can anyone help? I used Odin to do this. Maybe someone has the official rom as the one i downloaded had a foreign app on it so cant be the UK rom.

Would be really grateful for some help

I have just done this and downloaded the firmware for UK, i couldnt find one for 02 so flashed (using odin) one that just said UK.

I will let my wife test it and if it doesnt work i will hear it from her believe me :D:D
 
the one you were looking for is a carrier based rom, its unlikely that it'll be there at sammobile, you can try asking at xda, theres got to be someone having an O2 based rom.
 
I have O2 2.3.3 on a CWM backup, I assume I can do wipe data, then a nandroid backup and is sufficient for him?
 
I think that should work for him, there's no harm in trying.
He must make his own bakup before he restores yours, just to be safe.

You should do a factory reset and then do a new nandroid bakup(to clear out your personal data) and send that to him, after that you just restore your current bakup.
 
Do u know it will have all your texts etc?

Use the program checkfusdownloader.exe to get carrier firmwares. I got UK 3 stock ROM with it.
 
ok here, its a CWM4 backup cleaned, it will ask you what O2 you on etc. at startup. However is rooted but on stock kernel. But I believe is ways to unroot if you want to.
