A few questions

Just picked up my s5 last night.. I am a fairly knowledgeable android user but for the last 3.5 years I've been on Motorola for UI so there are some things that are new.

I was attempting to post on tapatalk but could not find the post button, before it was my settings button, but I do not have that on here, any guidance there?

Next question is about the UGLY folder icons.. it seems Samsung fell short in this area, the S4 folder icons are perfect.. but anyway, other than a launcher or rooting, is there any way to change the folder icons?
- note on that I did install nova launcher, but I hate it. The app drawer is ridiculous and you lose many nice features of the s5.

Next one is related, my last phones I have been able to fully personalize the bottom pannel ( where the app drawer icon is) but now I am forced to have the app drawer icon on the bottom right, when really I want it in the center..
Again I want something other than a launcher and rooting (if possible)

If you know of a launcher that keeps the features and the same functionality of the s5, I am willing to try it out.

1- I have TapaTalk open on my phone now (I am using a PC to write this though) and I have it on this thread. At the bottom of the screen is the command bar (that's what I call it) and it has a + sign, grey letters saying "Quick Reply".

EDIT: When in TapaTalk, do you see the 3 dots on the top right of the screen? Click there, then make sure that "Quick Reply Bar" is enabled. Yours might off OFF and that would make it hard to do a reply.

I touch the words Quick Reply and the keyboard pops up. Typed in "TapaTalk Test" and then I touched the "right facing arrow" and it then said "Reply successful"


2- I think you are stuck on the folders, read some efforts to change them but did not bookmark those threads. Can't remember if anyone fixed that w/o using a different launcher.


3- That grid square labeled APPS is hard coded and cannot be moved. It never bothered me and preferred it at the hard right/left. Just accept it and move on.


4- I'm not a launcher person... TouchWiz satisfies me so far. Would love to get a 2nd phone and just piddle around with the launchers and get familiar with how they work.
 
I am able to post replies, but making new posts is different..

I won't just accept it that I can't move the icon, just because it's good for someone else is does not mean it's good for me. If it comes to it I can root it. I want my phone to be personalized to me
 
give APEX Launcher a try, its much better imo than NOVA. You can have the icons however you want then and the themes are pretty cool

I just edited my post, go back and read the TapaTalk section.


I support your wish to move the APPS grid icon, but I doubt it can be done while using TouchWiz
 
trouble is I don't see three dots in the top of the screen on mine, I was expecting that and looking for them when I initially was trying to start a new thread..
I will take a 2nd look later to make sure I just wasn't being blind but my phone is experiencing charging problems now

When an app is missing the 3 dots, and IF the app behaves properly, you can press and hold the Double outline Menu button and it will bring up Options = the 3 dots.
