A New D3 Update Leak?

MicroNix

Rumors are starting to float around about another leaked update for the D3. Could this *finally* fix the crappy camera software? Add a little more performance maybe? Optimize code?

Could it be what Maverick ROM is based upon? Links? I'd like to read more. Mav ROM runs 5.7.894.XT862.Verizon.en.US.

The only thing I read was that it supposedly was 5.7.894 and that initial reports were that it wasn't the greatest quality...like an early beta.

Well, I'm running it right now through Maverick ROM, but without the baseband and kernel upadates contained in the official leak. I feel like battery life is about the same, maybe slightly better. I can usually go 6:30am til about 11:30pm when it hits 5%. It charges a bit in my car dock, but I think it's an improvement.

So...it will probably be released in a month or two unchanged as a OTA ? :-)

I heard also that it closes off the root trick that PSouza's one-click uses, in other words - once applied there is no way yet to gain root access again.

I can't apply it anyway, since it almost certainly won't install onto a rooted phone, right ? I guess I could apply the 5.6.890 sbf-like file and lose everything on my phone currently, then apply 5.7.894 leak "beta" (I am not impressed with how Motorola beta tests their updates). But then I'd be truly stuck since the 5.7.894 is not rootable (yet) and so I could not go back to 5.6.890 at all, right ?

Actually for my D3 its really good, the camera is better than what I had. but it might depend on the device. I downloaded it on the computer, cause the file has been leaked.

If you apply the update, you still can SBF back to 5.6.890. and yes the 5.7.894 isnt rootable.

Yes, if you have a root keeper, it will retain root. The camera is WORLDS better than either of the previous. I'm running rooted Maverick ROM, which doesn't have the new kernel or baseband. If you flash it, you can still SBF back to 5.6.890. If you want the leak with a ROM, I believe that MavROM is the only released ROM that will run on the leak. I know there is another in development over at XDA. I don't think you need to SBF it as I simply wiped data and cache then flashed over debloated Monster ROM.

I believe that you can flash this leak via SafeStrap as well if it scares you at all. Go check it out over on XDA.
