Welcome to Android Forums, X ray.

You can find out a lot of useful information about your phone in Motorola Droid 3 - Android Forums.

What it sounds like you did was to accidentally delete your favorites widget. It's easy to do and east to get back. On the blank area it used to be on your home screen, long press (touch and hold for 2 seconds or longer) and select widgets from the pop up menu. You should see favorites in there somewhere.
