A question about Android, WiFi and service...

Hi all,

This is an Android question, but I'll begin with something that happened to my daughter, who uses Blackberry.

Recently she went to the US, and everything worked fine until she had to reboot her phone. As I understand, everything worked because the phone still had the Service Books from Panama and lost them in the reboot. Thus only Whatsapp worked. No BBM or Facebook (which I think also needs the service books).

Now for the Android question:

Would this happen to my Android phone when travelling abroad? Or will it just use WiFi when available, even if I reboot it (which I usually don't)?

I think the answer would be that it would just keep using the WiFi connection, but I'd like some confirmation.

Thanks in advance,

Humberto

Your phone will roam on whatever service that country has. Be aware, there are two types of cell service, cdma and gsm. If your phone is a cdma, and the country you go to is gsm only, you wont get service. And obviously, you will get charged roaming from your carrier.

You can ALWAYS use wifi when available, that will work anywhere in the world.
