A Question About Apps

The question is simple: If I want to download a app, and this app wants access to my mic, does the app only access mic, or does it access the mic AND keep a copy of the audio to be sent to the dev of the app.

A good example of this is snapchat. If you look at the permissions of the app it lists (among alot), the camera. Does that mean that if I take a photo snapchat gets a copy of the photo too?

I don't think a copy of text, audio or photos get sent to the dev, unless he's a dishonest dev. In which case, the PlayStore would take some action.
The permissions are just for access to needed parts of the device.

Snapchat needs permission because, as a third-party app, it's not allowed to directly access system processes (such as Camera). It's primary use is for taking photos, so that's perfectly acceptable.

Yes but does information get sent to the dev/owner of, for example, snapchat?

Apps like Snapchat can be trusted, but some of third party apps that work with those apps could be a danger. I remember a couple of years ago a Snapchat plugin (not developed by them) secretly keeps a backup of user's private photos & videos on a separated server.
