So I saw the Galaxy S for sale in several places today on Amazon and I was wondering if it was legit....

I was looking to get an unlocked phone to use with a GSM text-only plan, QWERT so I don't care about any carriers or contracts, just the phone itself.
Will the carrier specific phones have better features than the original Galaxy S?
Will that one on Amazon have any compatibility problems or older firmware than the ones coming out this month?
