A Rival For Siri? Evi, New App For Android

2.3 star rating, that says it all. I find Voice search about as good as any 3rd party apps out there. Tried Everfriends, Syrvi (or whatever disease that is), Jeannie, Speaktoit, Vlingo... none seem very reliable. Looking for one that respondes to "Play, or listen to Satisfaction" and Rolling Stones song starts playing (not just send you to your player to manually start it). None of them are very reliable at even opening the player.

edit: Thanks for the Iris tip, does work well for "play song.....", song strats right up w/o having to press another button!

Iris is pretty intense, forget paying all the money for an iphone, just picked up iris for free and its telling step by step instructions on the best way to make a baked potatoe. Sup

iris just told me iphone is better than droid...wtf?

also, i asked what the best tv show is right now and it told me to watch so you think you can dance. uninstall.

Why would you look for a Siri alternative on the Market when you have Google Voice Commands already built into your phone? Even Steve Wozinaik said it was better than Siri.

iPhone 4S owners' data usage shoots up by an average of 500% using Siri. I don't think that is much different with Android equivalents! So beware!

Guys, it's just a waste of, your mobile data, and your time, while downloading that crap. It's just a couple lines of code...well..ok...ok....lots lines of code....but that doesn't makes so much of difference.

And why you have to download an app, to do the job, that you can do it better by yourself??? Ha? ha??? ...At these early stages, not worth to downloading.

Well, for what it's worth I noticed Nuance has "Dragon Go" now, and it's free. Looks promising.

The naysayers are right, these apps will chew through your data on a weak plan. It basically takes your voice and sends it off to be processed, and then the result comes back. I have a 5GB plan, so I'm not worried, but I also have a crappy phone, so I'll just type. It's not worth it if it locks up and I gotta pull the battery. Next phone I get? Yeah, I'll play with these. Then I'll probably go back to typing my searches since that's what I'm used to.

I'll stick with vlingo. The fact that is has the hands free in car with safereader so i can wake it up with a voice command and not have to even touch my phone makes it worth it to me to not have the "pretty" or "fun" factor. plus most of them seem to make you push a button after you open them. with Vlingo, you open and start talking.

Iris sucks. Plain and simple. I keep getting updates and none of them actually make the thing work. "Set an alarm for 8:00 tomorrow morning" is useless. It doesn't tie in well with any phone apps and just basically tries to turn EVERYTHING into a Google search which is worthless. That's the beauty of Siri and why it's so popular. It does these things seamlessly and actually works. The fact that they would claim Iris is the same thing a Siri but for Android is offensive to anyone who actually wants the app to work. 'He made the app in 8hrs' yeah, and it shows. Now some work to make it actually mirror Siri instead of claiming it's the same would be helpful. The only thing more amazing than the fact it was created in 8hrs was how little advancement it's made since.
