a spond problem with my phone

I have a ZTE 4g phone. it works fine except for 1 thing. It won't play any ringtone, mpg3 or 4 and wav files with the default player. I get the following error message "sorry the player doesn't support this type of audio file". There is nothing wrong with the audio files. I d/l a prog called [meplayer audio] and all the audio files on my cell phone will play through the prog that I down loaded. But I can't figure out why the default player won't play them.

hmm weird unfortunately i dont know how to fix that issue or know why it does it sorry :/ wish i could help are you using a modded rom? or just the stock rom

By the way when I 1st got the phone about 2 months ago the ringtones played just fine. And what is a "modded rom" and or a "stock rom"? I know the what the word "rom" means, read only memory.
