Lurker
I have an a1cs tablet android 2.3 10" which looks like a Flytouch but I would like to confirm whether it is and if so, which one. Any help would be appreciated. I would also like to know where I should be looking for updates.

I think this is a cortex a8 cpu, actually clocked at 1Gz and therefore I think it might be a Flytouch 5. Does it look like this?
Flytouch 5 V10 Android 2.3 Cortex A8 Tablet PC - Gps 10.2" Wopad

Thank you for your suggestion. (Where do you look up the CPU identifiers?) I think it could be a 5 as well; unfortunately the Flytouch range all look similar - this one certainly has two USB ports, I can't tell the camera spec as the system info tool doesn't tell me although it supports VGA and W?orXVGA which probably implies 2M camera. I'm not sure what the battery spec is and it also states Android 2.3 rather than 2.3.4. It does have two labels on the edge; one saying V10 and the other 8GB which also suggest this may be the one. How can I be sure it isn't a Flytouch 3.

I guess my question is; if this is a 5 where do I go for updates; I'm assuming there are some on the basis that mine is Android 2.3 not 2.3.4? and will I be able to match the version running to a particular level?

You have probably seen the other thread about a Wopad V10? Sounds to me like you have the same tablet....Vimicro A8 CPU....that definitely is NOT a Flytouch 3. The other poster called it a Flytouch 6... thats one better than iBex/Chinagrabbers offerings!! :D

Firmware updates will be a bit thin on the ground yet!! Have a look for a forum for the Flytouch 5 or 6.

I have looked at a build text file on my tablet and it has some of the same identifiers as gerry53's unit. I am having charging problems on my tab (got it for Christmas and battery reports it is charging but is at 1% when on charger and no higher). Before I open this up and void the warranty I want to gather all the specs on my unit so I know its baseline. How do I do that or where do I look for this information? I am exploring the file structure but not knowing much about Android it is hit and/or miss.

OK I have figured out how to get the hardware profile of my unit.

The hardware as reported by most, if not all, of the information apps is only to be considered to be generic and not specific... for example, it will report a cpu family, not the actual cpu. It will report visible RAM, not actual RAM soldered on the pcb...and so on.

You really only need to know the model number it reports as being... (menu/settings/about device/ model number.)

As for charging...put it on charge, switch the tablet OFF & leave it over night, then see how long the battery lasts when in normal use. The battery remaining indicator is a guess at best and , in reality, is next to useless.

Hi gerry53,

I guess I've bought the same device you have, but as superpad 6. The system specs seem to be the same. I'm really waiting for custom roms for this device. Tried to crawl forums for updated ROM but haven't found any. Hoping those are already under construction...

The only thing which is a bit annoying is that I can't run Navionics' Marine Europe most recent version on it, but a previous version works which doesn't allow screen rotation (among other very useful features)....

I had a similar problem charging and the tablet eventually died - replaced the mains adapter and all now OK. Some rumour that there is a short in the mains adapter and it doesn't charge very well. The replacement was a better build and a longer cable.
