Able to access messages and e-mail in car through Bluetooth "message access profile"?

I recently got a car that supports the bluetooth message access profile (Audi A3), and should be able to read e-mail and messages, but I'm having trouble accessing them through my M8. Anyone with a car successfully be able to access messages and e-mail (Ford Sync maybe)? The car doesn't see any e-mail, and it sees text messages that were sent to my actual cell #, but most of the time I use google voice. Even though I use hangouts for both, it only sees the non-GV texts.

I tried re-syncing, but that didn't fix it.

Anyone at all using a car system to read text/email? Just want to establish a baseline. I'm thinking if there were some settings for bluetooth where I could set the default e-mail texting apps then that might fix it, but alas.

Hi @link1305,

I've never had any luck getting my car's head unit to view email - though I admittedly haven't tried too hard on that front. I have been able to read text messages - but, like you, found that I could only see texts sent to (or forwarded to) my carrier number; nothing comes through for Google Voice texts via Hangouts.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that's a limitation of the Message Access Protocol - it can only access the actual SMS store on the phone.

I went ahead and moved your thread to a more general section of the site, though, so hopefully some other folks will be able to chime in with their experiences. :)
