about me & my android

I've had several android phones in the past, I have not purchased a freelander pd20.
I have great problems with it.

After a update, it boots into chinese screen, with the touch screen not working.

I tried update with the latest 'update.zip' and get the message:

assert failed: less_than_int(1340075439. getprop("ro.build.date.utc"))
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(status 7)
installation aborted.

The long number is not always the same.

Any Ideas what I can try next?

First off welcome to the forums roycollingwood!

Hopefully we can try and assist you with the issue you are having. You may need perform a factory reset to get the installation to continue properly. I am not familair with your device so I really do not know where to go next with it.

That is why i am moving your thread in the Android Lounge where it can be seen by more and possibly get your problem solved.

Thanks again for joining :D

Hey roycollingwood - how are you today?

What recovery are you using? Also where did you get this update.zip file from? This may help us get to the bottom of your issue, but see below for more info about that "Status 7" error.

If you are trying to flash a new ROM in CWM recovery and you get a failure due to a (Status: 7) error, the reason is because you are either trying to flash the wrong ROM (ie: GSM Version of the ROM) or MOST LIKELY you have installed the GSM CWM Recovery on your CDMA phone.

I have tried a number of update.zip file.
They came from:
[ROM]Freelander PD10/20/30/60 Official ROM Update 20120822

I got into this position when I updated using FWDN_V7_v2.22.exe, run as administrator, I managed to get driver to work on my win7 pc, but only the once.

My tablet boots, but the touch screen does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
I used files:
a777.img 222,241KB 28/06/2012 20:30
lk.rom 1841KB 28/06/2012 20:30
NAND Data.fai 3121KB 25/06/2012 17:32

Are these the correct files?

Have you posted in the thread linked above with this issue as well?

It seems they may have some more device-specific information than we do here. I have never heard of this specific device so I can only comment on general rooting / recovery procedures.

Yes I have posted there, but have no answers, so I thoght I'd try here as well.

Roy
Okay keep us posted and let us know if you get an answer there.

Like I mentioned earlier I have never heard of the device so the only advice I can give is general root knowledge from my experiences.

Let's try to get some facts though:
1. What root process did you follow?
2. What recovery are you using?
3. 100% sure this update.zip is for your exact model?

I did'nt root, before trying to update.

2. What recovery are you using?

Only copying 'undate' file to SD card, then restarting in update mode, as instructions.

3. 100% sure this update.zip is for your exact model?

yes, as I said, i tried a number of files, & they all fail.

Well I've made a discovery, if I plug a mouse into the usb port, I can use the tablet, as far as changing it to english & setting up wifi.

With the last update, I'm now down to having 2 cameras again, & although it says theres no gps in 'status', it seems to work!

Does anyone know how to make the touch screen work? or what app to run.

I suspect the update I used is not the correct one, 'about tablet' says build number full_m805_392x_evm-userdebug 4.0.3 SXZ-PDX0 eng.zxp.20120628.103140.

Roy

As per my personal rooting experience, the update.zip you are trying is not compatible with your device. Is the update shown to you in software update section of your android phone or you are trying this update from your own-self.

Roy -

I am anxious to hear how you swim out of this. I just ordered the PD20 last night and don't wish to find myself repeating your frustrations. I know ordering these "off brands" is a bit of a risk when it comes to support. Heck, I don't even know how you found the manufacturer's website.

Can you update this thread with what you've discovered in the past few weeks?
