Help About time for an upgrade?

I like the Moment but it's about that time again.
I want something running a newer OS and a better processor etc. I don't want to have to root again to get performance or battery life

I have narrowed it down to the EVO/Epic-Galaxy S/EVO shift.

I like physical keyboards for some reason I just can't get the hang of not having one even with swype,but the Evo has a nice big screen.

The Epic-Galaxy S is extremely nice but felt a bit cheap and is still running old OS 2.1 I believe, the screen is awesome though.

The new Evo Shift is running 2.2 and an updated 800mhz processor that outruns the current Evo 4g 1g,yet has a crappy camera and a very small SD card. It's also only 149.00 vs 199.00 on the Evo and 249.00 on the Epic.
I have never owned a HTC but I think I'm done with Samsung always waiting for updates and so many quirks you can't count.
So I think it boils down to EVO vs. EVO Shift? Or is there another phone I have missed.

crappy camera?? 5mp it's decent.. I love the pictures that the moment with it's 3.2 takes. (at least mine) I don't know others.

I have seen a few EVO pictures and honestly with it's 8mp camera isn't that great at taking pictures.. most of them are yelllowish ..

MP don't mean much. The Epic's (and iPhones) 5MP cameras are general held to be superior to HTC's 8MP units. Type and size of sensor, optics and firmware/software are all more important than size of file.

I can say the the Evo's camera is vastly superior to the Moments in every way with the exception of close up flash shots where the Evo over exposes every time.

OP- The Evo is awsome and I recommend it highly, but it's also getting long in the tooth. The Epic is also a nice phone, but it comes with Samsung support which is a big negative. I would wait a bit at least to see what users are saying about the Shift before buying one. If you can wait a bit, there's a very good chance that we'll see some new Sprint phones out of CTIA in March

Yet another headache. I just reset my rooted Moment back to factory stock 2.1 and the market gets the dreaded "a server has occurred" uhhhhg!!!!

try a factory reset. it's a headache, but usually fixes the problem

cant believe you say that the Epic 4G is " a bit cheap " its not cheap in anyway. i upgraded from my moment to the Epic 4G just this past friday and ive loved it. takes awesome pictures and works way better than the Moment. It doesnt drain battery like the Moment. Now theres also a 3000mAH battery you can buy for it wich a guy has a done a review and he has gotten that battery to last like 2.5 days without having to recharge it. so far as i can see from the regular battery is that it lasts long enough for me from doing certain things and closing what is not needed.

Have you played with either phone you are looking to get...? go to the sprint store when you get time and play with them in the store. i spent like 2 hours last weekend playing with both of them and it came down to the Epic 4G because it has a slide out qwerty keyboard.

seriously, the camera is not crappy and you cannot pick a phone based on what size sd card comes with it. I just upgraded to the shift from the moment and have to say this phone is amazing, after samsung left us running 1.5 for what seemed like forever I said my next phone will not be a samsung.
