Root About to order my N5 from Google.... now what

Yeah me too, so how come it didn't fix my dates I wonder? Did they just change 2.7.0.0 and didn't give it a update number? Can someone do a list for me of the things (apps, system apps) that I should NOT delete with Titanium Backup?

Thanks guys!

I don't think it fixes backups already created. Just new ones

I just got a notification on my phone about a bug report. It gave me a .txt file, what does it mean? I will go ahead and paste the text file...
TIA!

Thanks man! That notification scared me! I wasn't using the maps app at the time (actually I haven't even used it yet on my new N5 but I will check the settings.

TIA!

Does anyone know of a list of what not to delete using Titanium Backup? I wana get rid of some of these apps that came installed on my Nexus 5 and make it a more slim and trim phone (I have stuff like Google Hindi Input, Korean Input, etc, etc)

Here's a spread sheet with a list of apps that are either safe or not to remove.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AghMIYzGGGzZdEVNQnFvSW1yQkZUc004dnh1ZlVtS3c&usp=sharing

You could always freeze apps with titanium backup first... Just to make sure it doesn't cause any problems. Some apps/services rely on other apps to function and can cause FC's and so forth.

Hey, I unchecked that option in Google Maps but it didn't change anything, I have had about 3 or 4 bug errors in the past week. It doesn't seem to be affecting anything though. So I guess I will just start ignoring them... Is anyone on here running the Dirty Unicorn ROM? How is it?

Hey guys, I just got a notification that there is a system update available and it's telling me to download it and it won't let me clear the notification.

Anyone else get this? Is it safe to download it? Will it unroot me?

Sorry, hadn't gotten a chance to see this yet. We have an ongoing thread about taking the update here:

http://androidforums.com/nexus-5-all-things-root/841508-4-4-3-rooted-ota-upgrade-questions.html

Basically, if you are comfortable flashing things in recovery i'd suggest the option I detailed in this post here:

Hey guys, Can someone tell me how to copy video files and pictures from my Nexus 5 "DCIM" folder? When I try and copy from it it doesn't do anything!

I am on a Windows 7 Home Premium Laptop and my Nexus 5.

I know that when I browse files when I am on my Nexus using ES File Explorer it always takes me to device/storage/emulated/0/ (or something like that)... How can I get to that folder on my PC when my Nexus is plugged in.

I need to copy off some 4th of July video files so I can make some room on my internal card (Nexus). God it's so confusing why didn't Google stick with 1 (ONE) folder to save all files?

There is only one set of files. There are several redundant symlink paths (think windows short cuts, although that is too simplistic) that are used in different ways by Android.

First question is, when you connect your Nexus 5 to your computer, does it show up as an MTP device (listed in Windows Explorer under all your drives). If so, if you double click on it, it should show "Internal Storage." Open that and you will see one set of folders including the DCIM folder. You can just copy files between your Nexus and your PC as you normally would between any two folders on your PC.

Yeah, it shows up as an MTP device... When I was trying to copy the videos from DCIM/Camera the computer would just sit there, no errors or copying files window... after I unplugged my phone (yeah I clicked on the unmount button in the task bar) I discovered that for some D@mn reason I have lost everything in that folder, the folder even vanished, all my pictures and videos (about 4 months worth plus all my 4th of July pics and videos from the past 2 days!!! OMG!! I tried some undelete apps but it's not finding the pics and the videos it is finding the app is telling me that they are corrupt beyond repair or recovery!!

God I can't believe this! In January of this year I had a major hard drive crash on my Mac, lost about 750 GB of stuff and now I've lost all my pics and videos that was taken using the Nexus Camera app! What's next? :'(

Are you sure you didn't do a cut rather than copy and they aren't somewhere on your PC.

I've never seen that happen with my Nexus 5 and Windows 7 PC, so I'm not sure what to tell you. Sorry this turned into such a mess for you. I do that copy operation from DCIM/Camera using Windows Explorer all the time, by the way.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I usually just drag them and hold down the keyboard key that lets you copy them. Yes, it blows losing data all the time! I'm going to hook my phone back up to my laptop pc and check things out again. I will update this post once I do that. Thanks for the help BTW. :-)
