Root Absolution ROM - A few Q's

nigsy

Android Enthusiast
Just rooted and installed the Absolution ROM and am loving it :D

Just a few questions:

I want to change the wallpaper to one of my own, but can't find an option to do it - Or the folder where the 'stock' wallpapers are so I can put my own in there?

I don't want the email alert to go off everytime a push email arrives in Hotmail!! I have the notification sound set to silent for mail, but it seems to return to my default notification sound as soon as an email arrives?

Any help??

You should just be able to long press an empty area on one of the homescreens, it should give you the option to change the wallpaper? It will just scan any of the folders you have on the SD Card for pics.

Is that the hotmail app or the default mail app?

Nigsy,

El P is correct, if you long press a blank space on your home screen it will bring up a list of options, one of the options is wallpapers, if you press on that it will bring up a list of wallpaper options. The rom itself kinda renames your "gallery" app as Quickpic which is the one that gives you access to your sd card images. But i have just scouted through the absolution wallpapers and there is a good one of Darth, which i have now set as my wallpaper! :D

OK...

I still can't change the wallpaper...I do not have a Quickpic App, or any folder of that name in the directories. This is what I get when I try to change wall paper:

No options other than Absolution.

I am using K9 to manage both my Gmail and Hotmail....that's still work in progress!!

Getting there...have installed Quickpic from the market and changed my wallpaper.
Unistalled K9 - deleted my Hmail account from the stock mail app and installed the MS Hotmail App - Lets see how this goes!!

Hiya chaps,

Just noticed that there is an update for this Rom to ver 3.5, which I am just about to update to, but i also noticed that there is a recommended radio to flash too. My question is, do i flash the radio before or after the rom flash, and could someone point me in the direction of a guide? Cos i understand that although its a relatively easy job it can brick the phone.

Thanks for any help.:)

it's friday.
i'm tipsy.
what's this absolution rom?
any good?
using coredroid (i think. pretty sure of that!)
like it.
not so sure on battery usage.
but then, this battery wouldn't light fires since the day i got it.
so, absolution/coredroid...which is best? :)

It doesn't matter which way you do it, as long as you read the instructions and watch the video, it should be cool. Post if you are unsure about any part of the process though (although it is very easy).

Don't do it, even the slightest bit of alcohol and Clockwork is a bad idea. :p

I'm running Absolution at the moment, it's good, I approve and I'll probably need to update to 3.5 (I'm still on 3.1) at some point soon too.

damn.
tell you what...
try coredroid and give me a comparison.
that's not a direct challenge to you :)
but, i like this...
it's one of the best i've tried yet.
and, i only have ONE phone, can't keep chopping and changing!
:)

I agree that Clockwork and alchohol don't mix well... too easy to mess it all up!

As for the changing all the time... it's part of the fun of being rooted!

I would try it, but i see that its a sense rom, and its all about vanilla for me. Since i first installed CM7 a couple months ago, i fell in love with "basic" it is, no bells and whistles per say, but everything you need, and still run super smooth. No offense mate. :D

El P, just noticed that the recommended radio (12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M) is the same as mine apart from my radio has a "P" after 25. Is there any need to flash it, or do you think it would be ok to try and then flash if any problems arise?
Thanks

Yeah, thats cool. The important bit with radios is the bit after the first underscore, the first can differ from phone to phone.
