Accelerometer problems

I just got my phone!

The one thing I noticed so far is that it won't change to landscape/portrait unless I give it a little shake...sometimes even then it won't flip.

Any ideas?

I read about the spinning of the phone, but I don't think it worked or I'm not doing it right.

now you know the homescreen only rotates when the keyboard is out, right?
Other apps also don't work in landscape

If its the homescreen, nothing is wrong. It's meant to do that.
If its anything else, return your phone. It shouldn't take any coercing at all.

I'm checking in the browser. I read about the homescreen not being able to do landscape.

It's not that though, it's anything that can do orientation.

I just tried a hard-reset, but to no success...should I try returning?

If my phone is slanted at all while holding it, it may take a moment. I usually hold the phone perfectly straight up and down, and it rotates immediately.

mine is uncooperative at times, but usually if i am laying down and holding it at weird angles. much more responsive than iPod touch so im happy (although ipod was bought used and is rather beat up, no clue how it functioned when new)
