Help Accelerometer Stuck? Nexus 7

Hi, everyone. New to the Phandroid forums.

I believe the accelerometer on my 3 month old Nexus 7 has suddenly stopped working. It behaved well from the get-go, and then quite abruptly, seems to have frozen itself. Absolutely nothing unusual happened around that time; it had been only lightly used recently. I've got it in a sturdy Portenza case, and I've never dropped it.

So far, I've tried:
1) Toggling the "auto-rotate lock" button in the dropdown.
2) Performing a full factory reset and data wipe.
3) Vigorously shaking the device.
4) Installing "GPS Status & Toolbox" to evaluate/calibrate the accelerometer.

None of the above has helped. When running "GPS Status," accelerometer data appears locked.

The only way I can change the screen orientation is by running an app which forces it. (For example - if I launch the game "Riptide," it snaps into landscape mode as expected, but will remain that way until I launch an app which forces a snap back into portrait mode.)

Thoughts? Thanks, all.

Your presumption sounds pretty much on the button unfortunately. :(

All apps, or just the launcher? When you watch a youtube video and turn the tab sideways, does the video fill the screen?

The accelerometer seems dead/disabled across the board, unfortunately, no matter the context. In the "GPS Status" app, though I receive live and active feedback from the GPS, the pitch/roll and acceleration meters read at flat 0.00 no matter the action. In an accelerometer-driven game like "Riptide," my little jetski is dead in the water.

Given that this has persisted through a factory reset, I've done all I can to rule out a software problem, right?

I think it's time to call Google (so that they can re-direct me to ASUS, apparently) and request an RMA.

Other insight/ideas are welcome, of course. Thanks much.
