Help Access photos on phone, not SD card

We purchased the Desire X a few months ago and have taken photos and video with it. THey could be accessed and copied via USB etc. Then we added an SD card and mounted it. Photos now save to the SD card and I can see the card and it's content. PROBLEM. Now I can't access the photos/video stored on the phone itself. The Storage module in Settings shows 3.43 of 4 GB used. Apps uses 510MB, Other 2.93GB, Available 585MB. THe SD card is showing up and shows some content. I've looked through the threads here and have tried a variety of the File Manager/My Files apps. "ES File Explorer" and "My Files" look good and seem to show some directories on the device however I can't locate anything in the media/data areas that aren't the SD Card. The HTC Sync Manager says it has done a backup but I can't see where the backup has been saved to on my laptop and I can't locate the setting that tells you where it lists it.
Can anyone provide some guidance? Thank you in advance. :)
