Root Access the web on your pc using your dx

I found a new way to connect my Win7 PC to my Droid X to use the DX browser on my data plan.

To my limited knowledge, this is not tethering. You are using your DX to access the web and mirroring it on your PC.

It's called MyMobiler for Android and it is available at MyMobiler | Remote Display & Input

It's free. You have to be rooted.

I've only been playing around with it for the past day or so. There are keyboard equivalents for the DX hard buttons (Back = escape key, Home = F1, etc.). To navigate on the DX screen you can use the mouse, the keyboard 4-way arrows, page up/down, or the scroll-wheel on a mouse. Currently I haven't been able to get the screen to go into landscape, but this is still a beta.

it is still tethering, you are using your mobile device as a modem, so therefore you are tethering your data to your PC.

same thing. but its a good find.

this does sound a lot more like its just a mirror rather than tethering if it is using the x browser, and controlling the x via pc.

Works just like AndroidScreenCast, phone screen on your desktop. It worked great for me on .588 but wouldn't work on .595. I had to use the AndroidScreenCast to run a TiBu on my phone with a dead screen, very handy tool.
