Hi, the download was also about to start but being away from home and not connected to a wifi network I postponed the update...
Will try again later tonight but feel very optimistic this time :)

Update 2 -

The download and install was problem free and i am now enjoying google now which to be honest was the only think that i was interested in.

As for speed and smoothness i haven't noticed any difference.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. ;)

Hi all - Update.

Managed to update to Jelly Bean this morning after almost a week of trying. I recieved no update notification, I just give it another try after umpteen unsuccessful attempts and it started to download. A little slow, but went without a hitch.

Gonna uninstall Kies - waste of space (don't take my word as gospel, for some Kies does as it should, I am just not one of those fortunate ones).

So back to being a happy bunny - though if Samsung rang me up for a customer survey the expletive "Hope your next sh*t is a pineapple" would be right up there.

Too late for me :banghead:
I just came back home and wanted to eventually upgrade my OS to jelly bean but ....
having postponed the upgrade this afternoon and seen a failed download, and Samsung being Samsung I am a back to that famous message....
I guess I have now to wait one extra week minimum...

The more i use google now the more impressed i am with it, as for the rest of JB i still haven't noticed any major changes.

guys please reply with confirmation, does it reset the s3 to factory reset and delete all stuff from the mobile or it just update the software to the 'JB' ?!
and another thing .. does this new JB support the 'screen split' multi-tasking option ?!

I can confirm it does not reset to factory settings, my phone is exactly as it was when using ICS but now it has the JB goodies.

TBH i haven't noticed any difference in speed and smoothness but it was definitely worth the wait for Google now, it is brilliant.

As for screen split i don't think i have ever used it, if you explain how to i will gladly check for you. ;)

I tried updating through kies and did it successfully. The process took around 5 hrs at a 40-45 KBs per second downloading speed but there is no change in the software version. The phone is still in old 4.1.2.
How did you get 4.3?

I get the same message, sometimes wonder if the new JB update will be a good or bad thing, might just be better not updating.

On that point, say I was to check again and be successful, is there an option to just cancel, or once you click on check for software updates and there is one then you just have to let it update?
