Access To Windows Network

I am Tech Director for a school district. We are looking at buying several hundred tablets for student use.

Each student has a shared folder on the network for their lesson files, etc. They will want to access this folder via the tablet. Naturally access to network printers would be a plus.

Our network is a Windows 2008 R2 Domain.

I have tried several of the File Manager Apps and have not been able to connect to any network resources with them.

Any advice on how to implement this would be appreciated.

As I remember, for some time the devs of EStrongs File Explorer did domain access on their to-do list.

Did you try EStrongs?

Harry

Yes, The ES File EXplorer is one of the programs I tried. I just tried it again on a Lenovo Tablet and it either prompts for a Scan (and finds nothing) or Add A New Samba Server. When I try to connect to a server with proper domain info and a full qualified user name / password the connection fails.

???

I've never tried on a domain, but in a wg, I can't ever get ES to connect to smb without using the ip address of the server, name has never worked for me.

I just now did get ES File Explorer to work by disabling User Account Control (UAC) on a Windows 7 box on the domain. I also had to use the IP address. I am not sure I want to do this on the servers but at least it feels like progress.

Thanks,
