Help Access U.S Market on U.K HTC Desire HD?

Hi,
If I were to put an American PAYG sim card temporarily in my U.K Desire HD, would that allow me to access the U.S market and download some apps that are only available there?

I am wanting to download the Google Music app, Pandora app etc. I use a VPN on my PC to use Pandora One and other US content, and would plan on using a VPN on the Desire HD to run Pandora and Google Music, but first need to find a way to get the apps onto my phone.

Does anyone know if popping a US sim in temporarily would allow this me to download apps from the US market using my existing google account?
Any ideas.

Root, open Android Market, and download the app called Market Enabler. There are two US settings; T-Mobile (US) and Verizon. Switching between them will give you access to pretty much everything in the US market.

I was hoping to avoid having to root, I`m thinking it might be a bit scary. Have jailbroken ipads, ipods etc before, but am a bit worried about rooting the desire HD.

Is there anyway to access the US market without rooting.

Without rooting, it becomes a bit more complicated and difficult.

While there are possibilities of things going wrong, that can happen too with an Ipod as well. Think of Murphy's Law. Still, its a risk that can bring you many new options and features.
