How can I access CWM Recovery when I power up this phone?

With phone power off, hold at the same time POWER and VOLUME DOWN.
When the Lg logo appears, quickly release the buttons for a quick second and immediately hold the same buttons again.
You will get a message like this: "Do You want to factory reset?"
Select yes
It will ask You again.
Select yes again.
You should be in recovery now.

Use TWRP is better than CWM.

This will not work with CWM. It will factory reset it. It only works in TWRP.

As @Maslovicz said, use TWRP. It is better than CWM in every single way.
