accessing info on sd card?

I saved a file to my phone and it said 'saved to sd card' but I can't find it anywhere... how do I get to it?

I don't know what phone you have but, there are a couple of possiblities here. Let's go with the simplest one first.

Go to your app drawer and there could be/should be something in there called "Downloads". If there is, it should take you right to it.

If that doesn't work, download Astro File Manager or ES File Explorer and use it to search if you know the file name or navigate to your SD Card folder and see if you can browse and find it.

If the file was saved using a Web browser it will be in the Downloads directory which you can access with your phone's file explorer. If it was a picture it will automatically show up in Gallery. If it was music it will automatically show up in Music. If it was a video it will automatically show up in Gallery and your video player.

Its a pdf file that somebody emailed me. Its not in downloads and I have no direct acess to my sim card. I feel like I'm missing something obvious...
