Root accidentially deleted captivate stock "contacts" app - any ideas to fix? thanks!

hi.

rooted captivate, froyo 2.2, NOT an expert, have titanium backup and titanium backup pro, busybox donate, and superuser elite. i only rooted to delete all bloat and move apps to sd.

all is well, but i tried to move the stock contacts app to sd, and it froze. well, maybe it would have taken a few minutes, but i assumed it froze, and stupidly closed titanium backup before it finished, and lost the stock contacts app.

stupid me, i did NOT back it up. i have been 100% successful, somehow, to NOT mess my phone up until this. i realize it is stupid of me not to have backed up all my apps, let alone the stock contacts app o was trying to get to sd, but so far, i have not had any issues deleting bloat or converting to user app and moving apps to sd.

my stock contacts storage and contacts sync adapter are alive, but without my stock contacts app, i can't get into my contacts.

any simple ideas for an idiot like me? i know people here tire of idiots like me asking questions like this, but i spent an hour googling how to download the stock app, and i have found no answers.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!:)

you can find the stock froyo rom of the web, download it and extract the contacts.apk, and install it and you should be fine.

thanks for your fast reply!!!

i googled for a several hours, and there are no instructions i could find specificially for my build number, FROYOUCKBI or I897UCKB1. any links, specific steps or more info is appreciated.

i found this site, and it downloads with no problem, but then i get an error on my phone.

this is an android blog site discussion: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/91894-contacts-apk-help.html

i then i downloaded directly to my phone from the web from this site: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OTPARUZ5

it will download successfully directly to my phone, but then when i approve to install, i get an error message after i press install saying "application not installed". (i am using my phone to download and NOT using my pc).

ANY IDEAS?????

thanks..

Well since you are rooted, use a root explorer( ES Files Explorer or File Expert are free), and manually copy and paste it into the /system/app/ folder. I believe the permissions need to be all checked except the box for WRITE ALL. A reboot might be required for the changes to take effect.
