Root ace pvt ship S-OFF rl what foes this mean

Hi all

As above when I boot into loader this is what the top line says.

I rooted using the advance 1 cluck method and running revolution hd rom

Thanks

S-OFF just means the security check which HTC puts on the recovery partition is deactivated and you can install custom ROMs. If the security check was activated (S-ON), you couldn't load clockworkmod.

Ace is HTC's internal name for the Desire HD. They do that with all their handsets, the wildfire is called the Marvel, the original Desire the Bravo etc.

No idea what the other bits mean, sorry.

Can you boot into clockwork btw? I've seen in the past people with RL don't have a recovery image loaded.

i purchased a new DHD from a ebay dealer, this the info when i press vol down+pow button(loader)

now my device is running on 2.3, has the dealer performed the root and turned the s-off?? When i go into recovery it shows some triangle mark, can i fast boot the the device and load the cwm.img to get cwm and to flash roms?? But i have heard that device has to downgraded to 2.2 to do all rooting things and cwm,, please help....

recovery is easily installed as a PD98IMG in hboot. download one of the following recoveries:

cwm-5.0.2.7-ace.zip

PD98IMG_ace_recovery_ext_4.zip

PD98IMG-twrp-ace.zip

i personally like ext 4,but twrp is nice too :)

rename the file to PD98IMG and place on the root(not inside a folder) of your FAT32 formatted sd card. boot the phone to hboot via battery pull, then vol down/power.

hboot should find the file and ask if youd like to install. allow the update. afterward, reboot the phone. immediately remove PD98IMG from the sd card.

you can now enter recovery by booting to hboot, wait for the green writing to quickly flash, then select recovery with the vol rocker and power button.

in recovery you can either root your stock rom by flashing superSU,or you can install a custom rom of your choice. either way,id recomend to make a backup of your stock, unrooted rom first.

you can download superSU from this xda thread. the download link is about halfway in the OP,and is labled UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.01.zip

you do not need to install supersu in order to flash a custom rom.

just holler if you have further questions :)
