Action Launcher

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Action Launcher and if its any good?

How does it stack up against the likes of Nova? I only ask as I currently use Nova Prime but am maybe looking to change and I've heard promising things about Action just want some first hand knowledge.

I'm a huge fan of Action Launcher. It offers some really great features that you just can't find elsewhere (Covers, Shutters, QuickDrawer, QuickTheme) while remaining fairly lightweight and very fast. That said, it takes a "less is more" approach, particularly with respect to customizations. If you use Nova/Apex so that you can tweak everything just so, you'll probably be disappointed with AL - but if you want a great-looking launcher that makes it easy to access your apps FAST, you definitely should check it out.

Does that help any? :)

It does help, thanks Codesplice. I dont use all of the features in Nova so maybe a more stripped down launcher is better for me.

Would you recommend AL2 or go straight for AL3?

If you're on Lollipop (or intend to be soon) I'd go straight for AL3. It was rewritten from the ground up to leverage a lot of the newer APIs to do some really cool things - most noticeably the QuickTheme feature, which automatically changes the home screen color theme to match/complement the primary colors in your wallpaper. And if you use the Muzei Live Wallpaper, AL3 is even able to change those colors on the fly. :thumbsupdroid:

Can I hijack here to ask a question. The IAP, is it a one time upgrade for the full features, or a nickel and diming one feature at a time? I really like the look and will probably give it a try, but if I do buy I want it all at once.;) I checked the dev's homepage, but it just links back to play. Darn infinite loop.:p

The gotcha is that if you previously purchased AL2, you do have to purchase AL3 again - it's a new product, even though it shares the same name. I'm personally okay with that (the developer, Chris Lacy, does some awesome work, provides fantastic support, and I'm all for helping him make a living by writing awesome apps instead of having to get a real job) but I know a lot of people aren't quite as eager to hand over their hard-won dollars.

On the other side if the coin, I found AL2 to look quite useful but it was really, really buggy. I emailed the dev, got a generic response from the agency he uses, then nothing.

I'd like to give AL3 a go, but I'm loathed to pay for the app (again) when my experience of the first was relatively poor.

That sucks to hear. :( I suppose that I did go around the "official" channels and contacted the dev directly on G+ when I had issues/questions. :D
