Activation of TB

I'm wondering if the Activation HAS to be done in the store...The reason I ask is my wife used MY NE2 to get the IP4. I have to order. Deac my Eris. Activate IP4 on my acct. Deac IP4. Reactivate my Eris, then give her the iPhone...

Now, I want to use her Early Upgrade to get the TB for myself. But it will have to be activated on HER line...meaning she will have to deactivate the IP4. Meaning she will have to be with me (she works late tonight and I have a serious case of the Instant Gratifications going right now).

So the questions is: Can I just buy the damn phone, bring it home and deal w/ the activation process myself once the wife gets home?

thanks for any info!

You will probably just have to give CS a call. I went through the exact same thing with my X last year. But the TB is on my line this time so it will make it alot easier went it arives.

I got to Best Buy today when they opened. It seems moving my contacts was a problem because they deactivated my old phone the storm and needed it activated in order to transfer my contacts since their Samsung contact swapper didn't have the Thunderbolt in it yet. I left after 45 minutes and gave them my number to call me when they were done. Haven't heard a thing yet.

Couldn't you have just used backup assistant?

At the store they kept talking about how there was a special way to activate it and stuff.. I let them do it lol

I could have but the first thing the Sales Rep did was deactivate the old phone. They said the only was they could do it was to reactivate my old phone and use Google Sync. I have the blackberry backed up on my computer but I figured with the change I'm spending they could make sure this gets done in case I have problems. Maybe I should have just took the phone Contactless.

That's pretty much what I did when I got my Dinc (switched from a BB Storm 2)... Took it contactless then when I got home just typed in my backup assistant pw and sync'ed automatically... But I made sure that my backup assistant was updated before I did it

Verizon would not sell me the phone and let me take it home to activate. They were telling me i would have to stand there for about an hour while it activated(problems activating). Then said if I activated it then deactivated it, that in order to activate again I would have to come back to the store. I said no thanks, i'll order online.

They always say that, but is this true? They told me the same thing when I upgraded my moms phone for her birthday. I told them I didn't want to activate it yet because it was a surprise. They said it needed to be activated in the store. After activating they tell me "just so you know, the old phone is now deactivated" So now my mom is out driving around with no phone:mad: I mean, if we order it online, they don't open it and activate it before they ship it. Is there a difference?

i did this very thing.sim card activation is a nightmare.i had to buy a new one because the old is still active for 90 days ,was on the line w tech support for hour and half and finnaly told me i would have to have a new sim because it was activated on the other persons line.it sucked
