I am really happy with my HTC Desire running Android 2.2. All my work contacts were imported and I can get my emails too.

The only problem is with the notifications on ActiveSync. I have many subfolders in my inbox and if an email goes to a subfolder I get no notification. If the email lands in my inbox then all works as expected.

Is this a bug or a feature? Any help much appreciated.

I expect most apps work this way, but you didn't tell us which app you are using, so it is impossible to answer your question.

I am using the standard Exchange ActiveSync for HTC Desire. I am syncing to MS Exchange 2007.

I have no familiarity with the stock HTC app. However, are you actually receiving the email in the subfolders or not? If not, have to selected the subfolders for email delivery? From what I've seen, not all Exchange clients support this.

If it's not a feature in the stock app and you need it, you'll need to consider some of the alternatives out there.

Yes I do get the emails in the subfolders, but I always have to go to the subfolder to know that they are there. In this app there is an unread messages buttton and it only works for messages in the root of the inbox.

Easy
in Outlook
set up message rules, add a check to "this computer only"
Then the rule will only work if outlook is open. If closed it will still be in your inbox.

works for me
