Help Adaptor Compatibility With Resolution Help

I was recently thinking about getting a mhl to hdmi adaptor for my galaxy s3 to hook to my television so i can view my phone on the big screen for gaming purposes mainly. However, my television is not a samsung set it is a vizio. In addition, it only is a 720p tv set, it does not support 1080p. Will the adaptor still work still because of those two things? I've heard that the adaptor sometimes will not play nice with 720p sets. I want to know this before I go out and buy an hdmi cable and the adaptor...
 
Well no one replied but recently due to the holidays i got this as a gift so I guess I can return it if it really does not work. I will let everyone know if this works in my case for future reference since I think I saw someone else on the forums have the same problem.
