Root adb doesn't see phone

Hi all,

I'm new at all of this working with my phone so I'm hoping you can help. Through another couple of threads I found out about adb and about the additions to the inf file that need to be made for the Incredible driver to be loaded. Now I have the Android Bootloader Interface showing up in Windows Device Manager so it would seem that I should be able to see my phone when it's in hboot mode (which is the only thing I can get to since my phone is stuck in a boot look and dies on the red eye screen). The driver says the provider is Google, the date is 12/6/2010 and the version is 4.0.0.0. But when I go to my sdk/platform-tools folder and issue the command "adb devices" it tells me that the list of devices is attached but then there's nothing listed. So as far as I can tell, it's not seeing my phone.

Any ideas what I can do to make adb see my phone?
