ADB Driver help

When i try and root my Hero my computer is unable to install the ADB driver needed to perform these tasks. I've followed the instructions from this website with no luck. Any ideas?? When I installed htcsync my windows 7 did not recognize the adb driver either. I went to the device manager and right clicked on the adb item and told it to update the driver. I then said to do it manually and I pointed it to the folder with the drive in it.
