Root ADB Interface Error Preventing Root

I'm going crazy with this today...

Trying to root my Vibrant and am being stopped because of an error with the adb interface. No matter what I do, I get an error box from the Found New Hardware Wizard that says:

Cannot Install This Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
SAMSUNG Android Composite ADB Interface
An error occurred during the installation of this device.
Fatal error during installation.

I'm running WinXP 32 bit. Is there any hope for this phone? I've probably downloaded a million things today trying to fix this to no avail.

Did you solve the problem because I have exactly the same problem. Please reply or send pm if you solved the problem. Or maybe we'll solve it together.
