Apps ADB problem

I have installed adt bundle in iMac and am set with all the important environment variables.

every thing is in place but when i write command in terminal "adb start-server" no information is being displayed
all the commands are working fine but its not displaying *daemon started successfully*

Please help.

If the server already running it won't display anything more. You can "adb kill-server" and then "adb start-server", then you need to see the info.

will it not even give "adb server already started"?
