If your Note 3 is about the same as the day you bought it, some of the apps will be in folders inside the Apps drawer. Just as two specific examples, the Internet icon can be found in the Samsung folder, while I believe the Dropbox icon is in the Featured Apps folder.

Setting the Apps drawer to organize things alphabetically can help make the search easier (with the App drawer open, press the menu soft-key to the left of the Home button, select "View type", then choose one of the three options).

If you're like me, and prefer that none of your apps are in folders unless you personally specify, you can delete a folder by pressing the menu soft-key while in the App drawer, select "Edit", long-press on a folder you would like to remove, then without letting go, drag it up to the top where a "Remove" bar should appear. Once the folder is in the bar, it'll turn red, and when you let go, the phone will simultaneously delete the folder and organize the Apps to their proper location, depending on what view type you have selected (alphabetically if you chose either of the the "Alphabetical" options, or at the end of the list if you chose "Custom grid", which I believe is the default). When you've organized things to your liking, press the "Save" button to keep the changes, or alternatively, press the "Cancel" button to revert things back to how they were.

Me, I drag individual apps I actually need out of the folders on to various places on my desk top. I don't keep any of those folders themselves on the desktop. For instance, I never use the stock internet browser.

(The Note 3 is not only my first Android phone but my first phone period.)

You can also alter what is in that line of apps that stays at the bottom. I changed those as well.
