Add location to My Places Map in Android Google Maps?

Lurker
I have created several maps in My Places on Google Maps on my computer. I add to these maps regularly on my computer but can find no way to add a location to these maps on my Android tablet (Nexus 7) nor on my Android Phone (Droid 3). I can see My Places and maps on these devices but I cannot add new locations to these maps on Android, I need to go back to my computer. Am I missing something? Thanks

Can't you long press on the map and then, on the popping up My Places, staring the location?

Harry

Thanks. I tried that before and just tried it again without luck. I've learned the long press is often the answer but not here.

Strange !?
What is if you search with a location's address ? Maps should find the location and set a banner on it. Tap on the banner should open the My Places's page and you should be able to star the location.

Yes I can star it but my goal is to add it to a Map I have created. I can go to My Places see recent and Stared locations and all the maps I created but I see no way to get any of these locations onto one of the maps I have created. The banner appears both when searching by address or business name. The banner has two parts, one to click for directions the other pops up a box, a street pic and a little more info for an address, while the business name (I use alot of restaurants) pops a box up with lots of info, reviews, zagats, OpenTable, ability to upload photos, directions, call, add a star, reservation links and links to reviews all over the web. No where can I find a way to add this to one of my Maps. Thanks

I am having exactly the same problem. I reach my hotel in a new city, think to add it to my maps so I can find my way back easily when I go out, and there's no way I can do it on my phone. If the hotel is already registered on Google maps it shows up on search, but if it isnt, or I want to mark a small out of the way spot that I have just discovered, there's just no way it can be done on the phone itself.

Hi PJ, welcome to Android Forums.

There is a workaround which will achieve this, using Google Bookmarks.

1) In Maps, longpress the location to get 'Dropped Pin' and save it.

2) Go to Google Bookmarks - the newly saved location appears as Lat/Long coordinates. Tap Edit and enter your desired name for the location then Save it.

3) Exit from Google Bookmarks

To revisit your newly added location go into 'Google Bookmarks' and tap the bookmark. You should get the option to choose which app to use. The location will work with other mapping apps as well as Google Maps, I often use Navigate by Route66 or OsmAnd+, so opt for 'Just once'.

Hope this helps.

:)
